Chrisg, I think you are correct, but don’t' know for sure. I know they are python and believe they are Burmese. I got them from Mike Yancey at Pine Hollow Bows but unfortunately he is unable to get them anymore.
Larry, not all of them look as nice as this one, but most of them wouldn't be considered ugly either. I haven't sold any of my bows, once I traded one for a custom fly fishing pole (which I gave to one of my brothers for his birthday), but 90% of them are given to friends, relatives, and different hunting organizations. I am a little too meticulous (my wife calls me anal retentive) and spend as much time, if not more, finishing the bow then I do getting it tillered. If I sold these bows based on an hourly wage, I’d make less then the minimum wage, so I keep this as a fun hobby. If you want to buy a good selfbow talk with Mike Yancey at Pine Hollow (a sponsor here), Mike or Jason Westvang at Drayad Bows (also a sponsor here), Gary Davis at Rattlestick bows, or Eric Krewson a regular member here, they all make quality selfbows for sale.
Lenny, give me a call, we need to pulls some treestands tomorrow.
