I have always used a plain file in the woods, and also the "True Angle" type of sharpener as seen here.

Ephesians Chapter 6:12

For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.

I've always used a file to get the edge set if the head is really dull. Then I use a DMT stone and sharpen like I would a knife. A couple strokes on a crock stick for final touch. I use only two blade heads though.
