I am Wanting to upgrade to a new bow. I currently have a samick sage, any thoughts on what would be a good next bow,so many choices available.

There are some really nice bows for sale right here in the Classifieds. Really good prices. A Tall Tines Stickflinger would be my choice or a Tall Tines recurve, but some nice longbows as well.

I've never owned a custom or what I would call a high end bow. But I have ran through about every production bow at one time or another. I really liked the big rock blackhunter. I got the 60" hybrid longbow and for me was a sweet shooter. If you have never shot a longbow the hybrid is a easy transition, recurve riser with longbow reflex/deflex limbs. They offer recurve limbs as well, if your looking for something in the Sage price range that gets my vote.

I would probably spend around 500 for one, a good step up from the samick for hunting and user friendly is what I'm looking for. I'm still in the learning stage of traditional.

What part of Oklahoma are you located? There will be a trad shoot in Stratford coming up the first part of June, a lot of people will be there and you could probably shoot about any of their bows to get a better feel for what you want.

I have a bunch of different bows, recurves, longbows, ILF risers and limbs.........my favorites are bows from Chad Holm of Holm-Made Bows. A sponsor on this site and a super guy to work with. He does R/D longbows and recurves.

What do you like and dislike about your sage? do you want a heavy big riser bow? a slim and light 1 piece? etcetera...

another important factor is your draw length

if you are just looking for the opinions of others I think a good r/d longbow about 60" long is hard to beat, I would suggest a toelke or centaur.

with a 500 dollar budget you can get a top of the line bow on the used market.

A very basic Predator from Hunters Niche would be a good choice. Very nice bows for the money.

I've heard great things about the Bodnik Slick Stick. From all accounts they're great shooters and have a 30 year warranty. Cheap too.

I have a slick stick and it is the best production bow I have ever shot. They now have a lifetime warranty.

A Timberhawk T/D Hunter is close to your budget.

My partner has four bows with risers more expensive than the Timberhawk.

He prefers to shoot it and captured 3rd in the world last year in the Bowhunter Class while.shooting the Timberhawk Hunter.
