3R's Black Eagle Vintage carbon shafts?
« on: June 18, 2018, 05:23:37 PM »
Just ordered up a half dozen of these in the 500 spine, cut 29.5" bop. Was wondering if anyone has used them yet and what your thoughts are. Will use these with my new Maddog longbow that will be 41#'s at my 28.5" draw.

I have been shooting these arrows for over a year. I am new to traditional archery so I don't have much to compare them to but they shoot great for me. I bought the pre fletched ones. They seem durable enough. I broke a few early on when I would miss the bag target completely and bounce the field point off of a rock.

Let us know how they shoot for you.

Thanks Jeremy, appreciate the feedback! I also got the pre-fletched ones and like the looks of them. Also, got a field point test kit to make sure I get them flying straight. They'll be my hunting shaft if all works out.

I have 6 of the .340s. They are good arrows. Pretty much exactly the same as GT trads.
You might want to get them un-cut and cut your way into a tune if you never had that particular brand and spine before.

Tedd, appreciate the info and suggestion! Unfortunately, I already ordered them to be cut w/inserts installed. I will get them tuned and find a good point weight.

I shoot the 350’s. I like them. Weight and spine seems very consistent.

I am shooting the 500 spines, and they are very consistent with spine and weight. They fly really well for me, and are my go to arrow now.

Appreciate all the replies folks! Now I'm looking forward to them arriving. They will be my hunting and practice arrow for this year and if I have great flight with them, I'll order up more.

Been shooting the same 1/2doz .350 Vintages out of three different Bows the last year and a half. Consistent spine, weights and their durability will likely see me purchase some more when needed.

Can somebody that's got some tell me if these are standard 5/16ths diameter..i.e. will that accept nocks that GT trad, Beman ICS, 3Rivers trad only shafts use?  For years I replaced nocks on all the carbon shafts I shot, just for the sake of consistency.  There's weird ID's out there now, so one has to be carefull.

From 3R's website:

Every pack is spine matched ±.010" and weight matched to ±1 grains per 6-pack for consistent shooting. The straightness is checked on the full length of the extra long 34" shaft. Straightness ± .005". Inside diameter of .2445". Recommended field point: 5/16".

Not sure if this will answer your question but, it states ID.

They are a great arrow. By far my favorite wood grain finish, looks fantastic.

I use inserts and nocks that fit GT Trads and 3 Rivers Trad Only.

Great arrow, though I have not ordered from 3 Rivers.  I’ve ordered straight from Black Eagle and from a local shop.  Customer service at Black Eagle has been great (very helpful when I screwed up an order).  I’ve used 500s and 400s.

Stock length is 34” which is amazing for long draw archers. Durability is good and they are more straight and consistent than I can ever find fault with.  They look good too.

Black Eagle lists specs for all of their arrows on their website such as inside and outside diameter and grains per inch.  For the Vintage arrows I use I find 5/16 point to be just a little to big and they will catch a bit on new bag targets. 9/32 is a bit too small.  I use some of the easy pull type points that have a small bevel at the back and they are perfect.

Welcome Stunchy! :wavey: Great info and first post! My Black Eagles came today and I am purely satisfied to this point. Haven't shot them yet but, could find no fault in the structure and finish of them. Can't wait to hit the range when my new longbow gets here. :goldtooth:

Thanks Wannabe,
I’ve posted a bit on Tradtalk and have been a lurker here for a while. I’m still relatively new to archery, but I get excited when I see a topic I can contribute to, so I figured I might as well finally register and start posting.
