asymetrical tiller and hitting draw weight
« on: June 06, 2018, 07:33:15 AM »
Hello fellas.
2 questions-

1) Do you get your draw weight spot on every time? What if you miss your client's draw weight by 1-2 pounds, is that bad or is it considered ok?

2) I try to get a positive tiller of about 1/2". Does anyone go for more/less?
Does the shooting style matter (I would think that someone shooting string walking would need a stronger lower limb then someone shooting gap or instinctive). Your thoughs?

I keep mine around a quarter of an inch positive + or - , I shoot split instinctive, 1/2" positive would be my max, anymore and I  might play with grip above center a little. I think a string walker might benefit having equal to negative tiller since there string nocking point would be lower. Of course there are a variety of ways to tune a Bow regardless of + or - tiller. Missing weight by 1 or 2 Lbs is  OK by me maybe not others.

Not a professional opinion here since I don't make bows for "clients."  But, as a consumer, I wouldn't stress in the least for 1-2# off of my requested weight.  I always thought that the stated weights were +/- 5# anyway.  Doubt I could even tell the difference.
