Hey all,
Happy to report that I had my first miss of the year today.
While I would have been happier with a critter stick, it was good just to get a shot.
Went out back to do a little target shooting when I looked int my neighbor's yard and spotted a pretty fat looking groundhog. Well he spotted me too and tucked himself back into his hole under my neighbor's shed promptly.
I gave him about 10 minutes and he came poking his noggin back out to get some sun. Gave him a few more minutes to come out a little more, then he decided that it was time for a nap and started to lay down.
"Now or never" I thought, came to full draw, everything was looking good, release...
Clean miss.
Now to the reson I was happy with it.
As I went to retrieve my arrow I noticed that I was in fact all lined up, positive anchor, good release, and my arrow was resting just past what would have been a great head shot. I was pondering how I could have missed when my son, who was standing in the rear doorway to my garage and had been watching everything as it transpired says to me in a low voice, "Woulda tagged him if he didn't jump your string."
Great, now I've got noise on my bow too.
Oh well, groundhogs are just coming around and I have a whole spring and summer to get after 'em.
Take care and Happy Easter all.
Keith
