Trade knife build

I'm still a beginner. This is my 6th knife. All have been stock removal. I'm making it for a knife trade on the primitive archer forum. Any advice or tips would be appreciated.
I started out with an industrial cutting knife blade. I'm not sure what kind of steel it is. I annealed it in my fire pit.
I used my $10 auction find to grind the knife.
I want to build a better gas forge soon.
I did 3 normalizing cycles before quenching. A file would just barely catch the edge so I did a second heat and quench. I got it a little hotter and that seemed to work. A file will slide across it now. That's as far as I got on it so far. I will temper it tonight or tomorrow.
