So you REALLY cooked it.

Hate to see that happen. Back in the 90's we would get a bunch of bows (trad, wheel, x bows it didnt matter) in the shop every year during early archery season where people had hunted in the morning and left their bows in the trunk till their evening hunt . Its amazing how hot the inside of a vehicle can get. Just feel blessed it didnt do damage to your truxk. I have a friend with a spinal disease that keeps him from shooting a regular bow. He left his crossbow in his front seat one day just to come out later and find that it blew up and part of a limb prod went through his windshield.

Sorry for your loss. Don’t you just hate it when life gets in the way? It must have been a real barn burner to bend a limb like that. I have been taking only one bow to the range lately because it so blasted hot. Usually I have them strung in their case but not for more than a few hours. After your experience I may modify my way of keeping them covered in the back of my Escape.
I used to carry a pcp airgun with a 2700 psi bottle in my car. I found it best to keep out in the trunk in a foam case with some other material on top. It would stay cool even after several hours.

Back in my wheelie days I would put my bow in my truck when I went to work and would go hunting after work. After a really hot day I got to the woods, climbed a tree and waited on the deer. A doe came by and offered a perfect shot, I drew my bow and the top limb folded up like a door hinge. I learned my lesson about bows left in hot cars.
