What's happening at Denton Hill
« on: July 28, 2018, 09:23:34 AM »
After much preparation for it, we had to back out of going to Denton Hill. We were anxious to see so many good people, and to show some of our new stuff. It is a disappointment not to be there. Now we are anxious to hear news of how everything is going. How was the weather? How was the attendance? What was the latest new equipment? Lastly, who won the Eagle Eye Competition? Probably there are a lot of us who didn't go, and are now looking forward to photos, videos, and info on this great event. Please have a safe trip back home. Karen and I will pray for that.

I took the wife and kids up for the day on Thursday.  We bought my six year old her first "real" bow and she loves shooting it!  Her and her little sister played in the mud and I think we brought some of Denton Hill home with us! There was lots of mud and the creek was flowing high on Thursday.  We can't wait to go back next year!

Today was absolutely beautiful weather, but everything is still a muddy mess though the sun and breeze is starting the drying proc
ess. To me, the attendance and vendors seemed a little down and the swap meet was smaller than usual.
Calvin Smock kicked butt in the Eagle Eye.
We are all here because we are not all there.

I was there Thursday and Friday. My son in law came in from Michigan for his first time. We shot a lot on Thursday and then Friday met with some of my friends and shot. We had a great time. Bought some stuff, tried some bows, talked to a lot of good people, had supper Friday at one of my friends camp and had lots of laughs.

I did miss having my buddy Longbow58 there. He had shoulder replacement in June  but I’m sure will be back next year.

The mud was incredible but the weather cooperated real well. Better than I expected. Looking forward to next year. Jim

Saturday only for us. Muddy mess around the vendors and camping areas. We only shoot the lodge targets but I heard parts of the courses were slick, steep, and tough to keep from sliding to the bottom.

We did some shooting, shopping, and visited with friends. Real nice weather Saturday. I was glad I was not camping there. That had to be rough.

I went on Sat. the first time on the week end( I usually go on Thursday) it looked like Woodstock with bows :biglaugh:  lots of mud. Everyone seemed happy but Muddy( in Big Jims tent you needed hip :help: boots) not as crowded as in the past. The sun was out the temp was in the 70s just a Very nice day to be out in Gods  Country!

great weather ,great people, great bows, great heavens. Got there Thursday and left Sunday morning. There was mud, but i hunt in the low grounds anyway. I didn't like how they scheduled Barry so late in the evening, not fair to him. Managed to see a beautiful cow elk 5 miles outside of town!

Was able to get to ETAR on Saturday for a couple of hours to say "hi" to friends and meet some new folks which was all great. The beauty of the bows on display was staggering. I have to say, though, that even though it is great to have all of that stuff-- vendors, shooting,etc--in one place,  the mud made it pretty unpleasant and often downright smelly in the vendor areas. I haven't been there before, but others were saying the attendance was down (looked crowded to me, especially in the camping/parking areas) and I got the impression that the event has outgrown the setting. Seemed like more space is needed going forward. I know we can't control the weather, but I wished I had brought my rubber boots.

Arrived with my grandson on Wednesday around noon and stayed through Sunday.  We had a great time! Yes, the courses were all very muddy but after a while you just got used to it. If there had been a vendor there selling rubber boots, they would have made a killing.  I can't see how attendance could have been down, the place was packed.  The thunderstorm that rolled through Friday night sent some folks home on Saturday but then the weather turned really nice.  The vendors were great, as usual.  Stocked up on all my accessories.  A highlight for me was meeting Frank San Marco.  He is building bows again, a new hybrid called the Eagle.  I test drove one of them and couldn't resist getting on his build list. Going to be about a year wait though.  Overall, it was a great shoot, even with all of the mud.

Does anybody know how many people attend Denton Hill each year?
