Arrow spine selection for a Black River

Hey guys, I'm pretty sure I know the answer to this question but I would like some experienced opinions first to make sure.  I'm going to order some arrows for a new Black River recurve that should be here in a couple months.  I've played with the arrow spine calculator but I won't to make sure I'm selecting the right spine since all my previous recurves have been Black Widows.  I'm wanting to shoot the Easton Axis traditionals with a 200 grain point weight.  I know that will be on the lighter side but I want to give it a try.  But here's the question, I should buy 340s right?  That is what the arrow spine calculator says, for a generic recurve that is cut 3/16 past center but I wanted to check with you guys.  O yea, the bow will be around 58lbs @28" and I draw to 28.  Thanks!

I will bet you anything you'll be between a 400/350 spine.  Some of that will depend on your desired arrow length(if you're a gap shooter or not) and how well your release is.  With my horrible pathetic release, I am usually on the stiff side.  With a bow that weight, I have shot everything from a 300 spine to a cut down .340 spine. 

I have found spine to be very dependent on the consistency of the individual.  I used to be much better than I am now. 

Another factor to factor is is how skinny those axis arrows are.  I have found that an arrow that is almost completely centershot can be much more forgiving than others.  I would bet you can make either a 350 or 400 work and play with brace height, strike plate material(Will uses velcro) and silencer placement.

Long .340 or shorter .400 should work.

I have shot a very similar set up and opted for the .400s I went this route cause I'm a high foc guy and the weaker shafts had less gpi. I cut em 1/2 inch longer than my draw and put 325 gr up front. But either would work for your set up fairly easy IMO

Interesting guys, thanks for the help.  I guess I was mainly thinking the 340s because I shoot the 400s out of my 50lb widow.  They are cut to 29" with with about 250 up front so I was thinking there was no way I could make a 400 work if you add 8 more pounds of draw weight.  Of course I know all bows are different too

I do believe you’ll be in the 340 camp myself. But I do believe you could possibly make the .400’s work. If it were me, I’d go with the stiffer arrow
