Follow up on hunt with Curtis
« on: March 26, 2008, 07:29:00 PM »
Guys and gals,
Bob Starkey and I got back home safe and sound from our hunt. First, we did not actually take a hog, although we saw some and has a few missed opportunities. I'm sure for some this would be a disappointment, but Bob and I commented over and over again how much we enjoyed the trip. We both view it as very much a success. We got to try a lot of new ways to have fun with trad equipment.
One of the ways that was a blast was to hunt gophers. It was a laugh out loud sight to see grown men acting so strange.
Curtis showed us his technique and here is a shot of him an his trophy.

I want to say again that we had a great time! Making a friend such as Cutis was the highlight. Bob and I will plans to go back.

Didn't get a pass-through...  :p

And the song, from beginning to end, I found again in the heart of a friend.

I've said it before and I'll say it again: the entertainment value of hunting with Curtis is more than worth the price of admission. Anything above that is just a bonus.

Just don't let him throw any gators at you.   :scared:

Heeheeee! I'm teaching an old man and a young boy how to "kill time" today as we hunt a few gophers and frogs ourselves. I managed to take another gopher this morning just after sun-up.

It was a great pleasure hosting a hunt for you and Bob, Lin. You guys were easy to please and great fun to be around. I certainly wished you and Bob would have taken home meat but at least you got to see some pigs up close and personal. Maybe next year. I'll drop a few pics here in a few days. I came home to clean up and I'll be headed back to camp in a few minutes. Hopefully I'll have time to down-load some pics after this hunt. Season is slowing down now. Only about 4 more weeks of turkeys and hogs and I'm gonna go lay on the beach awhile. I might even drink an umbrella drink and get a good sun-burn just for fun.  :D

Till then, I look forward to our next adventure together. It is a dream come true for me to be able to help guys like yourself experience traditional sportsmanship Texas style(gophers, frogs, and all). Keep a tight string and a sharp arrow, CK

Just for the record, we are already working on the next video which will be entitled "Killin' Time". There will be footage of never before seen techniques for gophers, frogs,----,-----,------,------, and ------. You fill in the blanks. I'll keep the rest a secret so that we remain an original idea. This project should be complete this year. Stay tuned! Lin Reah was the camera man on an up close and personal shot to remember.    CK

I had a great time indeed.  As Lin mentioned, although we didn't take a hog, I had a great time.  I think what makes that hunt most enjoyable is the company and I'm already looking forward to next year.

A shot of Bob intently watching a gopher hole.

And myself after sticking a skinny bullfrog. It's on the arrow. You have to look real close.

Cant wait to see the "Killin Time" DVD.

Bob and I could not scare up a hog so we decided to show Curtis what we do sometimes in the Cutting Competitions. I pulled a cola can from the trash and started cutting it up.

This one is after a diagonal slice. Kind of hard to do without knocking it across the yard.

This one is straight down from the top split.

Bob's knives.
