Insert Iron not working that well

Anyone use Bohning Insert Iron for carbon arrows? Have any of you had problems with it? I have been using it and for a few months now and am not impressed. I have already had to re-glue a few inserts that have come loose. Now in the past three days I have lost two inserts/points inside my target. I am very diligent when it comes to prep while building my arrows, I run a wire brush inside of the carbon shaft and thoroughly clean inside with denatured alcohol, then wipe insert with the alcohol as well before gluing. The Insert Iron doesn’t seem to bond to the carbon very well, the arrows the inserts have come out of show no sign of ever being glued. I am seriously considering switching to 24 hr golf club shafting epoxy.

I use 30-06 Insert Weld Glue.

It's a super glue with a rubber base.

I’ve used insert iron for several years with no problems.  I don’t prep my shafts or inserts at all.  I just put a point on the insert, put a generous amount of insert iron on the insert, twist the insert into the shaft, and then wipe off the excess.  I allow it to dry for 24 hours.  I check the shaft as it is drying, because sometimes the insert iron bubbles out of the end of the insert, and I scrape it off with my thumbnail before it gets too hard.  About once a month, I clamp all my arrow points in a vise and give them a twist.  Sometimes one will break free and I reglue it.  Other times, I will accidently shoot the arrow into something hard and the shock will cause the insert to break free.  When I get home, I reglue those. I’ve never lost an insert in a target since I’ve started using insert iron, taking those precautions.

Different strokes for different folks.  I tried using the insert weld and ended up with it all over my hands and workbench.  It held fine, I guess, but I never liked it.  Ended up throwing it into the trash can and it stuck to the bottom of the trash can, just to taunt me.  It stayed glued to the bottom of the trash can for 3-4 dumps, and finally I got tired of looking at it and pried it off with a hoe.  Next time they collected the trash it was gone.  Good riddance!

I've been using nothing but Bohning Blazer Bond for everything on my carbon arrows for 5 years now.  I've never had an insert come lose or a feather/vane come off with out extreme effort on my part.  I get a new 1oz bottle every year and have never had an issue with it going stale, etc. 

Bohning's insert iron I think is just a rebranded 'power bond'.  That stuff was not good.

I have always just used Ferr-l-tite
It’s cheap and have never had an insert come loose. And even on carbon, I can heat the point up and usually get the insert back out without causing any damage to the carbon.

In using insert iron, I first rough up the inside of the carbon shaft with a rifle bore brush chucked into an electric drill (a 7mm or even a .30 caliber brass brush works well). Then I clean the inside of the shaft with a Q-tip full of denatured alcohol. After this treatment the insert iron works pretty well..... And, I have discovered that after the bore brush treatment good-old Bohning Fer-L-Tite hot melt glue works great, too (never heat the carbon shaft). Since I started using the bore brush and alcohol treatment I have not had an insert come loose.

I,m with warden415, or a good hot melt. I use the professional yellowish glue sticks,big jim and others have good hot melt also, works for wood, aluminium , and carbon.Tried them all and then some,hot melt works and lasts the longest and a little heat reverse it if you want to change tips. JMHO. The only prep I do is on the wood tips,just soak a little in denatured alcohol and wire brush inside tip a little.
