A Little Advice Needed:

Hi Gang.  I'm shooting a Black Widow Longbow and have a quiestion...

Both shafts are Carbon Express Heritage 150's
Both have 200 grains up front. One is about 3/8 longer than the other, but both are bare shafting very good... Which one whould I go with?

Longer or shorter? Any reason why you'd choose what you do?  Thanks

Well if they shoot just as well longer, down the road if you ever switch bows or weights, it's a lot easier to trim more off than add it back on.

Is it uncommon for these two arrow lengths to test true, while "bareshafting"?

Seems to me that 3/8 of an inch doesn't seem to make too much difference on carbons if they are right for the bow.
Same difference seems to apply to weight on the front end.
I've went from 150 to 175 up front and haven't noticed a distinct difference.
I was shooting 55-60# bows with GT 5575s cut from 28 1/2 to 30".
Now shooting 48-52# bows with the same arrows and adding a ton of weight up front.
Just as an example my 48# Griffin is firing 5575's with 290 front side just as accurately as my 54# Ghost at 225-250 front side.
Also still own the first longbow I ever bought from DQ 55# and it shoots 2117's and no other bow I've owned will handle that heavy an arrow.
I've come to figure, if it fits wear it, if it don't adjust it, and if that don't work, get rid of it. JMHO

I would leave them long.  That way if you ever hit something hard and damage the end you could possibly cut it down a bit reinsert in and still have a usable arrow!!

It depends on how far you are bareshafting.While often things look the same at 20yds or closer they show up the little differances at 40 or more.I shoot out to 40 or 50yds to fine tune the spine.At those distances I think you will see a difference in the two shafts just as you will with a 25gn point change. jmho

Seems to me that 3/8" more clearance when using broad heads might be nice.
