Eric, I like your idea of glueing a solid piece on the riser, I've often thought about doing that except I would like to cut a dove tail joint the length of the handle and a corresponding dovetail on the piece to glue on. I think that would add a little rigidity and strength to it.

Something like this

You don't need the dovetail plus it would look odd in the fade out area.

Nice job Warren.  Tiller looks good.

Roy, is there a reason you don't stack your lams and make one cut-out for the Z splices?

I've tried that and didn't seem to work very well.

I should try it again I suppose.

See?

Lol.  Flip one of them over and you are good!
I joined 2 last night this way and it worked like a charm.  Just need to remember to cut to the line on the top cross cut, right down the middle of the line on the middle, and outside of the line on the bottom cross cut.  This will account for the kerf of the blade when you flip them over.

Or you can drink beer and do it twice so you don't have to think about it...

Maybe that's what I did wrong, not cutting like you said.

No beer for me in 5 weeks now Mr. Ben..

So far I don't even miss it and I feel great..

Nice

I've switched to heavy flavorful beer a few years ago and I only drink one or two on the weekends and I'm good.  Hard to binge drink IPA's, lol....

Thanks for advice and compliments gentlemen. Think I'm gonna flip the tips a little, rawhide it and snake skins and call her done. Its one of two I'm gonna give to a couple out in Missouri that hooked me up on some osage and might be shipping me some snake skins.

I also have a double tri-lam build going with a friend of mine and his son. My buddy has cancer for the fourth time and he wants to build a bow and harvest a deer with it while he still can. So stay tuned for those results
