Anchor position relative to the arrow
« on: December 17, 2018, 01:17:06 PM »
Ok one thing I have noticed is that if I shoot split finger and use the anchor I am comfortable with, it's clear that the arrow is not inline with my dominate eye, the back end of the arrow is to the right. Where as when i shoot 3 under the arrow is right under my eye and at the very least I perceive a cleaner sight picture. My only issue shooting 3 Under is the string clipping my nose.

I also had problems with the string hitting my nose at 3 under.  It no longer does.  Be sure to keep your head square with target--- turning your head in toward string will get your nose bit.  I have a slight tilt to my head that gets eye over the arrow.
Be sure you're not plucking the string as this will also cause the string to hit your nose.
Some of the top shooters have tape on their noses which tells me that for some it will continue to be an issue.

In addition to what John said, generally having good form and a good release helps to avoid clipping the nose.  Creeping can cause the string to move left on release, as can consciously opening the fingers rather than relaxing them.  Someone sent a video in here recently where you could see him moving his head on release so his nose moved into the string.  So: still head, maintain back tension through followthrough, let your fingers relax so the string can push them aside.

Sometimes I have had string hitting my nose that I couldn't diagnose, and just by working on my form it went away without my really knowing exactly what caused it.

Thanks All, great advice I appreciate it and it makes sense about the release
