Bringing home the Bacon!
« on: December 19, 2018, 03:45:25 PM »
Well not what I had on my mind when I entered the timber this morning. But after a few uneventful hours of watch I lost control when this piggy came down the pipe. Shot it with a 3 blade thunderhead that buried in the opposite shoulder. Good blood, pig went about 75 yards. Took it to a processor, asked him to run it through the bandsaw lengthwise and make sausage out of one half and I want the other whole to smoke.

The early bird might get the worm, but the second mouse gets the cheese!

I have had guys that I have given bows and arrows to go down south and come back with wild hog meat for me.  Never any bacon, I have always wondered why they don't get bacon.  Some day I am going have to give pig hunting a serious try.   It looks like fun.

That’s a perfect eater right there!!!

Congrats!!!

And pavan, the wild pigs are too lean to get bacon off of them.

I get my bacon from the butcher shop.  :bigsmyl:

I’d love to live in a location where I could hunt pigs locally.

Very cool looking pig.  Congratulations!  In Texas around Christmas time these become tamales, although bacon is good too.
