Has anyone here shot the Total Archery Challenge? There is one this year in Pa. It looks a lot of fun and I'm thinking on going.

I'd probably use spellcheck but otherwise have a good time.
The essence of the hunt for me is to enter nature and observe+ return safely occasionally with the gift of a life taken.

Just looked at the Montana event.
Looks like,it's geared towards compound shooters, most shots are 40 to 100 yds. Probably be skipping this one in favor of a more trad friendly event.
 Have fun tho..

One of my customers went to one in Utah last year. He said he was the only Trad guy there and everyone he ran into wanted to know about his bow and asked a ton of questions. He said everyone was very respectful about his choice of gear and encouraged him the whole time. But yes, it is geared towards The “other” bows.
I’m going to try to go to one with him next year just for fun!

They've done one here in Boyne for the past three years. I've gone every year and had a lot of fun every time. Yes, it is geared towards compound guys, but I have seen the number of traditional shooters increase every year that they've had it. Don't know how many compound shooters came up and we're asking about the bow and saying how cool it was to see trad bows at these events. I think that everyone enjoys shooting long ranges at times, and this event is really a ton of fun as long as you don't expect to be making kill shots and shooting perfect scores. It's fun just to try and hit the target at 50-100 yards.
Last year I managed to hit the 120 yard bison with my first shot in front of a group of 8 compound shooters. Their reactions were awesome.
I would definitely encourage you to go. Find a group of guys to shoot with and just have fun with it.

I did see in the description that you could scoot up to a more comfortable shot.
Why do they have nock "tee" times? Is it a competition ie scoring, prizes etc.
I'm up for a little sport just hate waiting at targets for the wheelie folks to shoot if ya know what I mean.  :archer2:

They had one in san antonio and set up a course for trad, but it was out to 50 yards, still very fun. They have 3 or 4 courses in San Antonio. I use to help them set up.

Kevin, the nock times are used because there are so many shooters. After a while, usually late afternoon you can get on the course without one. Unfortunately you do spend a bit of time waiting if it's busy, so it helps to have people to talk to while waiting. No competition, but that give you a scorecard if you want one. They also have novelty shots like the iron deer and long range shots for entries in raffles and stuff like that.

My son and I will be attending the one in Boyne MI this year.  It'll be our first time going but we're both really looking forward to it.  I for sure will be "scooting" up.  My son shoots a compound so I think I'll be shooting last.  Regardless I'm sure it'll be a blast.  Maybe I'll see some of you there!
