Does anyone have a bow form from the binghams 68" r/d longbow or any forms that are similar or have a flat riser like the form has. If so would you sell the form and the hose or just a form

Do you have any take down plans?  I'm CADing up a form right now for recurve bows, but I'm a bit worried my inexperience with this sort of thing will lead me to make costly errors.  I wouldn't mind sharing the plans with the forum if I could get an opinion from someone who knows what they're doing.

Thanks for the reply. Attached is a plan I threw together based on some of the logic I'v seen for building these bows.  The form is a little long because I plan to add a piece of flat steel with a nut welded on to the riser end of it to create a variable stop.  That should let me create different limb lengths with the same form.  If you, or any body else with some expertise gets a chance to take a look, I definitely wouldn't mind any feedback on it.  I'm worried about buying $100 in plywood and having some obvious design flaw.  If you like it and it works, feel free to adapt it to your needs.

Why not use Binghams TD recurve plans

Mike is right also, you will get the weight you are after much quicker with a proven design. Then tweak it to suit you...

The reason I don't want to use the Bingham design is that they don't have a digital version I can convert to CAD. I'm pretty sure if I did, that's a copyright issue right?  I'm using a CNC machine to cut my form.  I have a 4x8ft table.  If I'm ever going to use it's full capability, this seems like a good time to do it. The design is basically similar enough that the performance shouldn't be affected and weight should be easy to figure off the same stack charts.  I'm more just worried about the form design, not the bow design. For instance, I'm worried the curved section of the bottom form needs more support so that it doesn't break when I inflate the house.  That kind of thing.  Maybe I just need to take the dive. I'm leaving active duty and moving back to Georgia, so it may take a month or two before I get to follow through. I'll post the build when I'm done.

Yeah... I just don't see the use in keeping it to myself though. If I make my own that's pretty close and works well, someone might pull the trigger on giving bow building a shot if it only costs them a few bucks to get it printed.  Or better yet, just use a tape measure and square.  All the design aspects in my plan have center points, curve radius, etc...  When I started, I waited a few months because i didn't want to make an investment just to fail. I found a free internet design, and after I ordered a kit, Kenny gave me some pointers on the phone (thanks Kenny).  After that I dove in head first.  It would be cool to me if someone else started building because I helped them. 
Now,  my original bow did exploded. That internet design was bad and the fade outs were too radical.  Not to mention, I used cut up inner tube to clamp, and didn't heat.  Still though!  That free design was enough for me to fall in love

In my opinion you will have a better recurve if you go away from that long straight section and make something like in the picture I post.

The link Kenny sent you (Jim Thorne ) I think is up on the CAD stuff. I think your form strength would be fine with plywood. And I dont think Bingham cares thats what they do>

Calculating s noon continuous able should be a blast lol. Thanks for the tip!  My take down has a similar profile. Not sure how to replicate in CAD.
