I think the lone wolf clinging sticks are the only way to go. After you practise clinding with them, you will develop a system that is fast and quite. They are really very stable and safe. P.A.

I have the lone wolf sticks and the Stepp ladder rope on stepps. This was my first year with the Lone Wolf sticks and I really like them but with only 3 I often cant get as high as I would like. I carry a couple of the Stepp ladder stepps and if needed use them with the Sticks for extra height. I guess if I hade to make a choice it would be the sticks though.

has anyone tried leg spikes?  i use them a lot and haven't found a tree i cant climb.  I use a loc-on stand that weighs 6 1/2 pounds and can go anywhere i want.
