Javaman Archery service
« on: January 06, 2019, 02:25:13 AM »
I just had to give a shout out to Gregg Coffey and the outstanding service offered by Javaman Archery.

I'm the owner of a wonderful Shrew Classic Hunter that I happened to know Gregg made when he worked for Mr La Clair (you can see it in the product reviews forum). Some flooding while I was away from home last year caused some significant water damage to the finish on the bow and boy was I distraught. I got onto Gregg straight away as I'd already been in touch with him when I got the bow.

Well, the customer service I got from Gregg was really outstanding. He was always really prompt with emails and flexible with the logistical problems I threw his way (I'm Australian but was travelling around Ohio and Kentucky around Christmas when it was ready for delivery). And of course the workmanship was exceptional.

There's lots of wonderful bowyers getting around the US making lots of wonderful bows, but if you go to Javaman I'm sure you'll get looked after.

Jim

Gregg is an amazing Bowyer and offers incredible customer service!!  I had a very similar experience with a splintered top limb tip due to an arrow failure.  Gregg repaired it and it looks and performs as good as new.

I was highly impressed dealing with Gregg when I purchased my Falcon; both his service and the quality of the bow. Looking forward to doing so again. just a really good man and a really fine bowyer.

My “Helms Deep”blew up on me two months ago . It was a partial dry fire due to abad nock which resulted in the lower nock groove of the bow to separate. I sent the bow back to him at his request. He then phoned me and said the the bow was irrepairable. He built me a new bow to my specs . I was fully expecting him to charge me as I bought the original from someone else and therefore he ,Greg Coffey ,was under no obligation to replace. He waived the cost saying he felt it was the right thing to do. To top it off I got the replacement in 4  weeks! I was totally stunned .
Folks this man not only builds class bows ( as we all know)but is also a stand up guy. This is rarely ever seen in this time and age. I was and am deeply moved by his generosity. If I ever get
another bow he is the guy I am going to talk to.
He is very personable and helpful . By all means give him a call and I swear
he will build you the very best. He will also stand behind his product 100%
Sorry for the long ramble. I just had to tell my story.

Agreed-- Gregg has super customer service and makes a wonderful bow as well. I bought an older L'il Favorite a couple of years ago which I knew he made and he graciously and beautifully and quickly lowered the draw weight for me. I also have an Elkheart and I think you would be hard pressed to find a better short bow anywhere.

I met Gregg at a TBOF annual shoot a long time ago. Don't remember the year exactly, but it was either 2001 or 2002 when he was just starting to gain some traction as a bowyer at the national level. At the time I was trying to learn how to make selfbows, coerced into the abyss by my friend Steve. I think at that time I had scratched out my first oak board bow. A good friend of mine still has it, thankfully he doesn't shoot it much or it would no doubt quickly become fire wood...

Anyway, by Gregg's standards that bow was pretty hideous, but he was genuine in his support, suggestions and encouragement to build more.  That attitude along with his work at the time and knowledge about building bows, self through laminated and a willingness to share, I had little doubt he would find great success as bowyer, however modest that success may be measured monetarily. :)

By all indications Gregg is a perfect example of judging a man by his character and the reputation he has built over the years bears that out.
