Raptor Archery back from CA
« on: April 01, 2008, 05:50:00 PM »
Well folks thats right were back , good time in California and 15 more guys shooting hand made selfbows, most of them heading to the Chamberlin Ranch shoot coming up. Great weather but just a little to crowded down there for me. My sons Joey and Jesse were great help with teaching 15 students and my wife Lois kept an eye to make sure all were staying in control.
Give me a day or two to dig out and we will be running back at normal speed

The class was done with hickory, not native to the Santa Inez valley but a good wood to start with,
We didnt have a lot of notice to do this class for the Chumash tribal council, so we had to go with something on hand. They enjoyed themselves so much that its in the works to do more.

Come on Theodore, don't try and play it off like it was all work with the Chumash bowbuilding class. I saw the photo evidence of the "side" surfing trip with you and your boys at your childhood stomping grounds (El Capitan).

Geez, surfing and selfbow bow making, must be tough having to get back and fill all those woodgrain AD orders!

Ted, good for you!!!!!!! Its really wonderful that your generous enough to share your hard earned knowledge of the selfbow with others and helping to keep the trad torch burning. My hats off to you Frank Johnson
