2 PC Take Down Considerations

I'm planning a 2 pc takedown all wood and I have a few concerns.  It has nothing to do with the bow swap by the way 

-My core and belly lams will be spliced
- I plan to laminate thin pieces for the handle build up, and bend the lams and handle pieces in deflex at glue up.

Will spliced lams affect the strength of the socket?  Will cutting the handle in 2 relieve some of the glue held deflex and cause havoc?

Yeah I have watched his videos and plan to model my take down off of his.  But his risers and lams aren't setup like I'm describing....

Every one I done has spliced lams. You will want G 10 off center to the window side. I use .090. Put enough overlay on the front of the riser so you dont go thru the glass when relieving material for the wrap. When wrapping go above the top area where you relieved  to get a smooth transition when shaping the grip. sand and seal the tenon with several coats of CA glue. If you put very much finish on it after the bow is apart you may not get it together. If it is loose coats of CA can tighten it up.Get yourself a dead blow hammer in case things dont want to come apart. Couple of good blows will flex the sleeve enough to make it easier. If not you still got a one piece.

Thanks Stic.  This will be an all wood take down (besides the wrap), but that's some good info I'll be able to use.  I like the idea about wrapping above the relieved part.

I would still put some glass or something in the handle even if it is across the width. And maybe lamite you handle pieces.

It is nearly impossible to keep a riser from flexing at least a little no matter what you do. It may not be noticeable, but it happens.
I don't build a bow without reinforcement.. necessary or not.. I certainly wouldn't build a 2 piece without it. The I beam is the strongest way. Will you get some spring back? probably not because you cut it after the glue up.

You can also reclaim some of the shape by adjusting the position of the two pieces of the riser before wrapping the sleeve. Not having built an all wood bow, I can't say that it would be necessary. The riser enforcement would be unless the bow is of very light draw weight.
