Denatured alcohol. I have used Rit - Transtint from Woodcrafters. Also  Turntex has Alumilite dyes that can be mixed with the alcohol.

Dye recomendation ?

Bingham’s sells some dye for this; according to them, the best product for that application is a water based dye.  W.D. Lockwood.  I’ve heard that an alcohol based aniline dye works really well, and that makes more sense to me since I wouldn’t think your want your core lams staying wet for long.  I messed around with a few trying to match cores under a canary wood veneer, but I didn’t much like what I came up with so I just went with maple.

I use the Transtint dye's, along with some others. They are great and you can mix with water or alcohol.
What wood is it going on and what color are you trying to match?

You can mix the aniline powder dye with more alcohol and less dye to get a lighter color.

Also you can buff it with 0000 steel wool after it drys and make it as light a color as you want.

Alcohol based dye is so easy to cover up a place you may have needed to sand off a bit.

It will blend right in and you won't even be able to tell.

I bet you could mix some of the dye into your sealer coat. I know you can with the transtints and the turntex sounds similar.
