With those big hooks and the forward handle, 8.5” brace sounds reasonable to me. Does it not perform well braced that high?

Seems to be pretty peppy yes. Although a lower brace would be better. Thinking about 18 in. riser and PL 3.5 past that and a longer tip wedge to shorten the working limb and get more preload.

I agree 8.5 " or even 9" brace for a recurve doesn't sound excessive for a recurve my Black Widdow recurve braces at 9" maybe see how it shoots at 9" ?

I start mine 10 in. from the string groove. By the time all said and done tillered etc ends up probly 12 in. back. Tapered back from 5/8 on the very tips. Most times when you get your blank put a center line on the belly before tapering and that is where your belly groove will be. If tillering blocks on the blank show a different dynamic center then you have to adjust.

Thanks ! I think mine was keeping too much hook, piked to 58” and it’s a whole different animal!
