I was out in my cold shop cutting a piece of wood for my sister and I saw my project bow hanging there on a nail, so I took it down and started sanding on it,rounding the corners and removing material from the belly.
When it was bending more easily, I put the string on it to check the tiller. Here’s the problem. The string is 4 inches shorter than the nock to nock length but when the bow is strung, it stretches out until it touches the belly. The string has been stretched previously by hanging weights from it. I would have thought that by now I could string it up and get it to at least an inch or two of brace.
Here’s a couple of pictures.
Should I keep on removing material until I get it to brace height?
The bow is bamboo backed black palm.
