I have a Black hunter longbow 40lbs at 30" with a calf hair side plate and a cabelas warden 45lbs at 30" (which is pretty much a samick sage clone) with a Bear side plate that came with the bear hair rest. I have both of these pretty well tuned with full length 2016 camo hunters with 200gr points. I do have an endless loop X-99 string on the black hunter and a Flemish B50 string on the warden, so that probably helped them tune to the same arrow.

Bow showed up yesterday and I got it home today!  Pretty nice looking rig. Got it strung right now to get some stretch out of the string. I will hopefully be able to shoot it on Sunday. See what the weather is doing. I’ll let you know how things go. If not it will be Tuesday.

Thanks for all the info folks.

FWIW, I have three different bows in the 42-45 lb. range at my draw length of 27.5". All three shoot a 29.5" 2117 with 145 grain tip bare shaft perfectly.

I went round and round with spine charts, calculators, and a dozen 2016's. Even a set of 1916's. Could never beat the results I got with 2117's.

Thanks for the info.  No shooting today as I got back to town late and ran out of daylight.  Also pretty cold out today.  Tuesday it will be.

Got out tonight to shoot. Best I have done yet!  First group at seven paces was right on. Ten went good and even out to twenty I was consistent. Smooth bow but quite a bit noisier than my Sage. I will have to look into that.

I didn’t get a chance to shoot a bareshaft as I haven’t stripped fletching off one of my arrows yet.  Three fletch, 30”, with 145 grain field tips they seem to be kicking to the right from what I can see in arrow flight. Also they are hitting knock high, but that can be fixed by adjusting my nock point, correct? I am shooting split and tied the nock half an inch above level.

I shoot split, 5/8 nock and about 7 3/4" brace height on mine. Some shoot 7 - 7 1/4.  I couldn't get mine quiet that low.

I noticed that it was quite a bit louder than my recurve as the string really seems to resonate.  I had it at 7 3/4 and dropped it to 7 1/2 and it sounded a little quieter.  I will adjust my nock height a bit and see.  Thanks for the help.

i'm shooting 1916s out of mine at 45 @ 28 with a round toothpick split in half behind the bear leather side plate.
take it out & can shoot 2016s, both arrows cut to 29 1/2".
by the way it's a pretty impressive bow for the money.

I have had a chance to shoot a few times and things are looking good with the 30" 400 GG.  I got an new fastflite string for it that I have yet to try and have tied in some beaver balls so I am going to try with this setup a few times and see how things go.  If not I found a different chart that shows actual bow weight and my point weight and it says the same 400 spine but at full length so I might have to pick up a different set of arrows for it.
