prayers for a friend
« on: April 28, 2019, 04:49:56 PM »
I have a friend on another site who at this point will remain nameless...

I just heard that his only Son, an adult, tried to commit suicide...he's still alive, but not doing the best and I've seen family blame themselves before and it's not a pretty thing...

I ask for prayers for this family (God knows them) and for the son to heal both physically and emotionally...

All I got was "survivor's guilt and a nasty woman"... Alas, that is all I know but our Lord knows more and I ask for healing for all connected to such a personal challenge...

Doc,
I certainly will pray for this young adult and suicide hurts the folks left with the " what could I have done to stop this" or it isn't like him or her.
I had a very close friend that talked about it and the family laughed at him because he was a person who  always made folks laugh with his personality and never thought he meant it. He tried once by taking a lot of his meds and tying a bag around his head and his son a State trooper found him when he came in his parents house and got him help. They sent him to a psychiatric center and he walked out and said it wasn't for him . A few years later I get a call and he shot himself with his shotgun. His wife was a changed women after that and I seen the hurt it has left 100's of friends and family with.
People when someone talks about it some think talkers don't or won't try it BUT I can testify that we don't know what one is thinking or what one is going through inside and it happens.
Just listening or dropping a simple text or phone call once in a while and letting them know you Love them and praying for them may change their lives.
Praying that God hears our prayers Doc and that the young man pulls through and gets a second chance with life.
Prayers for All involved and know this person and that they love on him and he will realize folks do care.

Lots of complex aspects leading up to a suicide... No sure formula either...

sometimes, people are said to become very upbeat that were down-in the dumps; lots of signs but our society doesn't focus on them as we never expect it to happen to those we love...

I just HATE to see those left behind tear themselves up over someone else's choice to quit it all...

I have new news: The son who tried to end his life is doing well, he's transcended rehab and is at his parent's home growing stronger daily... the parents are doing as well as can be expected and the father, my contact, appreciates everyone's prayers!

That is all indeed Great News!

Thanks, C.K.

LR, being, as you well know, prostate cancer is a a-symptomatic ailment, and the post treatment checks are 90 days apart, I won't know more till mid July.

alas, some of the observed side effects seem to have abated...the slight improvements I noted in BPH seem to have disappeared, which doesn't surprise me... But, thanks for asking...
