Trosper Park Archery Club, OKC, OK
« on: July 09, 2019, 01:23:19 PM »
I know there are quite a few folks from Oklahoma on Trad Gang.

I am considering joining the Trosper Park Archery Club and am interested in what their 3D course looks like. It seems that you must be a member (or maybe know someone who is... I don't) to get access. Its a 40 minute or so drive from the house but I can make the drive once a week or so. I thought it would be good to have some additional practice outside the backyard and maybe shoot with some other Archers. It might be predominantly compound shooters but that's no big deal.

If you do or have shot the 3D course what do you think? Worth the membership and drive time? As far as I can tell it's the only 3D course within a hundred miles or so of me.

Thanks in advance.

Not sure where you are located Keith but there are other ranges in the OKC area. In Yukon Ok, there is a Pro Shop that has a calendar there with most of the 3D shoots listed on it. Can't remember the name of the shop but the Owner's name is Ken. He's a great guy and can help you out with some places around the city to shoot. Just google archery shop in Yukon Ok. You'll find it. Good Luck!

Thanks for the help Jack!

I have been to Archery Traditions of Oklahoma over in Yukon. It is a really nice place. It is about an hour from home (I am in SE Norman). Their 3D range is indoor so might be great for our hot summer weather. What I really like about the Trosper Park Archery Club was that as a member you get a code to the gate and can go shoot during any daylight hours. They have target butts and a 3D course.

Thanks again.

Check out the Stratford Sportsman Club on the Longmire lake at Stratford, OK east of Paul's Valley. I do not believe it is that far from you in Norman and far less traffic to deal with. They just hosted the Oklahoma State LB Championship this past weekend. This is a traditional club and you will not be sorry. Some of the top shooters in Oklahoma call Stratford home. There president is Mike Baird. I know they are on face book but I am not. As a member I believe you get a gate combination but I cannot swear to it.

Thanks Bill!

I will look into that Archery Club and see what's up with access to their range.

Stratford is a great group for sure! There's also Legends Archery range located at Choctaw Archery in Choctaw, OK. Not sure if that's all that close to you in Norman, but figured that it was worth mentioning. Haskell Smith runs that range and a really good guy. They also host the Oklahoma State Recurve Championship. Choctaw Archery & Haskell Legends Range both have (separate) Facebook pages that are good for contacting them.
