Ghost Blind

Do any of you use the Ghost Blind?  What are your thoughts? Thought may be good addition to pig/deer hunting in places where tough to use pop up blind

I used one for the first time last fall.

This is my experience and two cents (for what it's worth  ):

1)  I need the extender panels for added concealment;

2)  I have to sit back, or behind the panels a fair distance to allow for shot maneuverability, i.e., drawing and rotating to shoot through the 'shooting ports' in the panels.  As such, I am exposed from the sides and am required to do something for added concealment from the sides...such as natural vegetation or burlap, etc.;

3)  The blind is a bit cumbersome to haul in to the woods.  It bought the blind on sale and it came with the "carry pack."  When carried on the back as designed, the panels extend over my head and a bit to the sides .  The "carry pack" is a soft pack, and is made of apparently some of the noisiest nylon known to man.     I hunt big woods, and sneaking in -quietly- with this blind is darn difficult.  Every branch or twig that comes in to contact with the carry pack is LOUD.  Whack-snap-crack.

Having said the above, it DOES work.  I have only hunted whitetails with this blind and have had deer within 5 yards.

They work well. They had one set up at a local sporting goods store and I walked right into it

What Nailcreek said. I hauled, fumbled, drug, mine around the farm some last year. POA to set up in any wind or on a slope. They do work but lordy they are cumbersome. The carry bag is good for storage otherwise it's kind of a square peg in the round hole as far as packing it around and not being a tall guy I found my heels thunking against it when I walked since it hung so far down towards the ground.
It sure goes up easy and works slick in the videos though!

I agree with all of the comments thus far.  I have a first generation ghostblind that doesn't have the carry bag but has the backpack straps attached to the board.  Mine is a little heavier than the newer corrugated blinds.  In the right situation they work very well and in my opinion they are much better than a pop up for whitetail.  Mine is much easier, quicker and quieter to set up than a pop up and no more cumbersome to carry.  I've had deer, turkey and even bobcat five yards in front of it that never knew I was there.  I do have two of the extenders and I always stake it down in case the wind blows.  You do have to have a fairly level spot to set up but if you're on a slight downward slope you can use a stick laying cross ways to prop up the front panel.  The greater the slope the thicker the stick needs to be.  You also don't want to set up on the peak of a hill as you will be silhouetted.  For turkey I only use pop ups as they tolerate them well but for deer if I'm not in a stand I only use the ghostblind.   Works well.

All above comments are very true, they do work very well...I have a pic of mine in action but it won’t load.

I’ve killed one whitetail from mine and had plenty of close encounters with nature. Most animals don’t spoke until they see their reflections, squirrels will turn themselves inside out when they get to close and see themselves 

I always cut some brush and place infront and along sides so I can sit further back as there isn’t much room.
