Easing (back) into it
« on: August 13, 2019, 07:44:31 AM »
After getting into trad as a kid (14) and having shot most of my life.   Every major decision i’ve done revolved around my bow.  2014 or so that changed when a 6 year old kid caught me off guard with a statement.  My bowhunting came to a screeching halt.  A simple remark can be life altering.   Bows gathered dust, a pile of osage slats sit in the living room against the wall being knocked over regularly.  My arrow making and fly tying desk became a exclusive fishing desk.

I had been itching to shoot but couldn’t bring myself to... target panics childs play compared to the last 5 years, not depressed, but lost if you will.   I had the chance to watch Tred flip for reds on the klutina this summer.  He had a posse around him and we had another trip planned back down the following week so we headed back to fairbanks.  I never did get to meet him, he was off exploring the state by the time i went looking for him.

I finally started shooting this summer, easing back into it.  Man its amazing how much you loose after that long of a break.   Things are coming along now however.... fall is close in Alaska!

I live in a state most dream to hunt and haven't hunted anything here since the epiphany (the trout have some sore lips however lol) A Moose hunt with the old man is close around the corner, it will be a huge leap back into the woods with him around lol!  Hopefully...i will have a story to tell the end of september!

Anyways its good seeing some familiar names!

Shoot straight!

Dan

I think his boys have taken over.   Lamont has passed but Terry does a great job and would know the status of Jack.

Can’t think of a better reintroduction than a moose hunt. Look forward to hearing the outcome. After the above exchange with Chad should I assume one of his sticks accompanies you on your hunts?
