Bag targets and carbons
« on: April 08, 2008, 07:40:00 AM »
A customer recently had an injury to his thumb caused when a carbon shaft broke while shooting and it struck his thumb.
If you use bag targets, be careful. Carbon arrows are super strong but they will not handle any side impacts.
Many times an arrow will hang down on the bag target. A second shot may strike the first shaft. These side impacts can make small nicks in the shaft and weaken it. If they are too weak, they can break upon release.
If one shaft strikes another, which happen a lot on bag targets, check it , bend it, and then bend it some more, or you might get hurt.

Some are more obvious than others.

Good reminder! Also check em twice after rattling them through the trees while stumping. Some shafting is a lot tougher than others. Don't take a chance.

radial x weaves and cx maximas are super tough choices.  still need to check them, but have a less chance of splintering imo.
