Arrows!
« on: September 26, 2019, 11:23:15 PM »
Hey guys, l've shot trade lites for years now. I've shot some others here and there but always was totally impressed with the toughness and 'works with everything'ness of the trade lites.

I'm thinking of trying some standard shafts. (Something skinnier)

Can you guys recommend some arrows that are good and tough?

Thanks guys. WOW just looked at 3 rivers. That's a lot of arrows and a little overwhelming!

Are any of you guys using the AD stingers? Are they tough like the rest?

The axis have been around forever but never shot them. Aren't they partially aluminum? Do they just seem like a carbon?

Do most of you guys (non ilf) they shoot off the shelf run 5/16 or the micro shafts?

Thanks!!

Thanks Terry. I haven't been paying attention for a while here but do I remember correctly that used to love them? You're serious right not joking?

I found them plenty tough but the nocks suck (white ones). I had 6 blems I got from DM arrows. The shafts are still pristine though.
Limited foam shooting experience though- nothing like Terry's real world experience .

He’s not kidding, Arrow Dynamics are crooked, mismatched spines, and a wide weight range.  I wonder if you buy them direct maybe they keep all the best ones to sell from their web site...but the ones I got from a trad site absolutely suck.  They are now rabbit arrows...

I tried Black Eagle's Instinct shaft about three weeks ago, that may be the best shaft I have ever tried. They are tough, quiet and have a good FOC. I have shot Gold Tip, Carbon Express, Easton and Victory over the years, and while all did what they were supposed to, some were better than others.
For me, the Instincts have it all, and I see them in my quiver for a long time.

Snowplow-

The arrows from Big Jim are getting a lot of play and folks are saying they are super durable. I have a sticky note on my desk with what I want to order but haven't got it done yet.

I have had great luck with the plain old Gold Tips in standard diameters and weights. I have several dozens of the Hunter XTs and the Traditional XTs. The only ones I have torn up were totally my fault for doing something stupid (i.e. mistaking a rock for a stump, a cinder block for a foam target, etc.).

Gold Tip is like a lot of arrow manufacturers these days and has A LOT of choices. Like you mentioned... overwhelming. I think they are playing to the "micro-tune" crowd. Nothing wrong with that, simple just works best for me. I shoot off the shelf on almost all of my bows. For me the Traditional XTs shoot a little quieter because (I think) they weigh a little more per inch than the Hunter XTs. The arrows with the look of footed shafts are pretty cool.

Good luck with the search.

OkKeith
