something is afoot with this prostate cancer
« on: October 21, 2019, 09:54:11 AM »
Back in Sept a year ago, my annual physical  showed the PSA to be 5.5,  then 30 days later when I finally saw the Urologist it was up to 7.2X.  a biopsy showed it to be a high "GLeason score, ie, cancer, so I was asked to do a bone and lymph scan...all was reportedly "Clear"...so I started radiation after having 4 gold pellets inserted to give them a "marker" for their target...

30 days after completion of radiation the PSA dropped to 1.58...then in July it bounced back to 3.72, close to the 4.0 that is considered "above normal"... now I had one done last Thursday at the 6 mos window and it hit 9.7X!!!

So something is afoot.  I go in for a special confab with the urologist next Monday, 28th to discuss...

Oh, man...I've been praying for you continuously since your treatment. I guess I'll have to ramp it up.

I believe that God hears our prayers but there are times and situations where His WILL overshadows our desires (and prayers) but I thank all who offer prayers in my name...

Doc,
I know you have had a roller coaster ride on those numbers and I also will keep on praying our Father will turn this around and those numbers go back to a steady low and stay low.
Dear God I ask that you “PLEASE” heal brother and friend Doc here and his PT numbers come back down.
I ask in the name of your son Jesus our Lord and Savior

Doc I know this is very frustrating.  You have a lot of people praying for you and God hears every one of them. You hang in there and we will keep praying for you.

Phil & Fred,

Thank you gents... :) philip, you suggested driving 90 minutes to Knoxville for a different type of treatment but I eschewed to do that.  Dunno if it'd have made a difference or not... Find out what they think come Monday late but am not impressed with their success just now...as I've said all along: "tis in God's hands, not man's..."

Doc as you said it is in God's hands and his Will for you. I firmly believe that he heard the prayers of all of those praying for me and it was his plan that I stay here for now. I certainly am no Doctor but I do know the new Proton Radiation that I had was less invasive and more localized compared to the conventional radiation. Proton really didn't bother me at all. The chemo on the other hand liked to have killed me. As horrible as it was, it was worth it in the long run. I do have side effects from the chemo like neuropathy in my feet and legs but with medication I can handle that. I am not pushing Proton as a treatment for you. That is strictly up to you and your Doctors and everyone's body is different. I do know a lot of the people I met during my treatments were having to travel great distances and The American Cancer Society was helping them with their expense and travel. Stay strong and from Post I have seen from you before, I know you have strong Faith.

PHIL,

I had a Neighbor visit who'd moved away... I'll ask Monday when I see the URO doc, but this chap said you can only do the radiation ONCE, so if the proton would have been better with the long drive, it may be a moot point now...

Al, thank you and all those who offer up prayers for a positive resolution... I appreciate your support, guys!  Thank you!
