Purpleheart board into shafts?
« on: April 10, 2008, 04:19:00 PM »
Found a great board long enough for shafts. What tool and bit makes dowels and what diameter should I go for. I usually shoot 55-65 lbs.

I have a shaft-shooter that's done p-heart to 11/32.  Most of them spine around 90# and over and VERY heavy.  I'd recomend 5/16's if you can get them that size.  It's a splintery wood, hard to get smooth right out of the jig, and also hard on blades.
