I like 1/4" amsteel rope ,light weight,silent and very strong! I can send a piece that is ready to use with a locked Brummel spliced loop if you like.

I would try a piece of the Amsteel rope if overspined does not want to try it . I would like to compare it to the rope for stretch .

1/4" diameter AmSteel Blue has an average strength of 8600 pounds. I have 150' of AmSteel Blue in my pulling kit and have used it to pull moose. Super strong. Flexible and easy to work with. Somewhat slick on the exterior which reduces abrasion fatigue. Pricey.

Carbónflyer  - Received    the Amsteel Friday ,Thank you . Used it on my setup Saturday . Was still hunting to an area I wanted to check out and had some pigs pop up . Dropped my pack closed to within 15 yards and had a decent shot thru a little dog fennel so right behind the fennel was a limb I did not see . . So much for the pigs. Went and set my stand and really like the Amsteel less stretch. I’m going to order some and set up with it. Thanks again

I am a hard core LW stand user when I use a tree stand.  Used them for so long I can’t remember what year I bought them, early in the 2000’s I know that..I’ve been using the assault and climber, deciding based on situations..my best days, best bucks, and best set-ups period have always been from a stand I set that morning or evening.  It’s extra effort, but the deer really don’t have any idea someone just hooked in above them, there’s no history of anyone sitting where I sit.

I got the LWCG stand and sticks, thought I’d post what I’m thinking so far...

The design of the actual stand, seat, and all is awesome, even in packability.  All the modifications and “complaints” I used to have, they’ve seemed to have fixed them...very cool...I sewed “saddle bags” for my assault for transport, no longer necessary, had to bind it to be quiet, now its quiet by design. I had fashioned a belt and strap carry system, and now it’s designed for them and you can get them with it. Allows for carrying pack and clothing without shoulder strain.

It’s really light, thin, and quiet, and the color is less noticeable. Seat adjustment is better, easier as well, as is the platform adjustment. Most screws can’t generally back out because the nuts are locked in place by design..

I always only used one strap for attachment, LWCG comes with 2, and you can use with one or two.

Sticks are well made, really nice to use, and fold flat..

Here’s my issue at this point, the grommets do hold the sticks, but not all that well, I still need to bungee everything down so I don’t lose anything during transport. Also, I’m finding that I have to remove the straps from the lower stand strapping point, as well as all of the sticks in order to keep everything quiet, and allow it all to nest together properly.  In the videos it all looks great, but in reality, if you keep the straps and buckles on the sticks, it just won’t work. This means I have to figure out where to keep those straps to pull out and use as I’m climbing..so maybe a cargo pocket or something I haven’t decided, although this will likely be the case.

They got rid of the versa button, so the straps go on and off easy enough, but it’s just another step.

Also, I’ve played with the “one trip up” theory.  I think I have it figured out.  The first two sticks are removed and basically the first is placed on the tree from the ground, the second is carried up to place next, easy enough.  I then leave one stick stuck in the grommet on the left and one on the right of the stand.  I reach back pull the third stick, attach the belt to it, and up it goes.  Same for the next one.  Just have to be careful not to nock one off during this process or off it will go to the ground..

Once up, stand comes off, hang the top strap as always, and add second strap if the tree requires it or you feel better about it. Good to go...so one trip up does work, IDK if the sticks are lighter than the original ones, but I do like the design better.

I'm new to the hang and hunt method myself. I found a super helpful youtube channel called "DIY Sportsman" and he has a section there where he shows that by tying paracord loops behind the waist and leg sections of your harness, you can loop your 3rd and 4th sticks there for an easy one trip up the tree.

I've tried it on my hang and hunt sets this year and it's worked really well for me!

A couple of things on the LWCG stand now that I’ve been using it a lot more. It’s super light. I started using amsteel rope instead of buckles thanks to carbonflyr. I love it. I use it to hang the stand too. I keep the rope in my pocket and just add as I go up the tree. I make a small little loop when I made the loops in the rope.  The system to stick the sticks to the stand are ok, not great. They need a bungee to keep them there. Climb carefully or they’ll get knocked off the stand. The seat post has some wiggle to it. When I’m sitting if I wiggle my waist left and right there’s some post movement.  I guess it’s fine. I use that thick custom pad, i am 5’10” and it’s perfect. Any shorter seat or if I was taller and it’s too short of a seat post..the climbing sticks are the best I’ve ever used. Light and solid and carry nice. I’m happy with it

6'1 with 34-35" inseam, and I have it ordered, so I will see how short the seat post is, lol.  Probably shop in a week or so.  I bough a  hunt comfort hiker, but I am wondering if I can mess around and strap some closed cell foam on the seat and make some slits for the strap to increase the seat height another inch or 2.  Might make it a touch more difficult to tilt the seat back for standing, but I guess I will see when it arrives.  Are you using 1/4" or 5/16" amsteel?

i'm kinda thinking of going down to 3/16" for the sticks and staying with 1/4" for the stand.

1/4” amsteel for everything , I like the size it’s easy to handle even when cold.

My foam/gel or whatever it is seat is like 2” thick. I’d probably buy a good hunting seat and just cut it to fit how you want.

The stand itself with no straps is so light it’s freaking awesome to handle

Thanks.  I will buy the 1/4".  I think I have the same foam seat that you have by the look, but it will compress down, but if I get a thick closed cell foam pad to put under it, it should boost it some.  They don't compress nearly as much and may offer a touch of leg relief.
