New hunting partner
« on: December 03, 2019, 04:43:37 PM »
Well, went out to wood lot next to my house and my cat decided to come hunt with me. I’d been sitting there for a few minutes when he showed up. Actually, he does this just about every time I go over there.

Had a family loved kitty that would follow me out to woods each time I hunted close to the house. The kids would watch from the large side house window as the cat would climb the tree next to me and sit throughout the hunt. The family loved to rib me about it.

Initially, I was perturbed however, the deer showed up as if the nothing had invaded their space. This went on for a couple of years until the family and I moved.

This summer a doe jumped over my fence and he actually tried to stalk her.

I have a male cat 13 years old now. He's as much my buddy as any dog would be. He knows my ways and I know his and we get along well. Dont think he'd be into hunting though but he is always nearby anywhere else I go. :archer:

I started hunting a new farm this season and there is an abundance of cats that roam the property. There is a big grey tom, battle scarred up that will greet me at my truck when I park and walk with me to wherever I set up on the property no matter how far it is. I give him a few pets when I get to the tree and away he goes. He always comes to the truck when I'm leaving as well. My son and I have watched a big black and white cat, we call tuxedo cat for obvious reasons, make many hunts and stalks on birds and chipmunks. Watching the cats passes the time when the deer action is slow  :biglaugh:

Reminds me of my late Bluetick / Walker mix coonhound.

Quite often she would trail me to my tree stand, stand up and put her front feet on the tree and start howling. LOL

I'd climb down and take her back to the house.

I've never had a cat hunting buddy but my beagle would go with me, sit near me and watch for deer. It's amazing how much better an animal can spot game better than a human.

Interesting to me.  I was out bow hunting last Friday afternoon.  I had not seen anything, when a good sized cat came walking down the trail. About thirty yards behind the cat came a doe on the same trail following the cat.  She was followed by six antler-less deer and one pretty nice 4x4.
