Last week I had a business meeting in Florida where I got some Tru oil from one of my colleagues that he bought on my request.
Upon return home I used it on a new R/D bow that I'm making and WOW what a great stuff this oil is, smooth and easy to apply.

The picture shows the riser part that was coated two times.
BTW the antler overlays I made from antler pieces that I got from Sixby.

Nice work on the bow! I just had my first exp. with tru oil on some shafts. I like the results but I can't find anything to take that stuff off of my hands......

Tru Oil is a great product, have used it for over 20 years on finishing gun stocks and custom muzzloaders i build. It can be touched up if scratched just by steel wooling with #0000 steel wool, wiping off with tack cloth, and then rubbing in a couple of light coats, as a little goes along way. A old gunsmiths tip on storing this, store it upside down after making sure the lid is on tight. If you dont, it forms a skim/skin on the surface that is aggravating as heck. Just turn right side up when ready to use, no problem. Sam

Has the Tru oil dried yet? Do you apply it to all surfaces? Even the antler overlays?

Wow, that's a pretty bow! :eek:
I have used Tru-Oil for years on gunstocks and arrows. It is not as fast or watertight/durable as poly but has a beauty of its own. It is self-leveling, and easily touched up.

Mineral spirits take most of it off my hands, and I follow up with GoJo.

Thanks Killy, I'll give that a shot. I tried de-natured alcohol and gasoline. The gas cut it a little. Then orange cleaner. The stuff sure makes a nice finish though. I did some raw maple and the grain really stands out.

I had a couple of small scratches on a recurve and used it to repair or protect. It not only did this it also made them disappear!

I completed the bow and arrows yesterday and here are some pictures I took at our archery range.
The guy pulling the bow (30") is my shooting buddy. (I'm pulling just 28")
I'll try to post some better pics next week. If there is interest I can come up with a build-along.

All of what Koger and Killie said goes for/from me too., and as far as I've ever seen it is very/fully water resistant. The upside down storage is a real saver - trust us.
