I love wood arrows. Have or did make my own for years. From buying raw shafts to buying close grained board douglas fir from the the local Lowes, to sawing them square then rounding them with a plane. Yeah been there done that, complete with making my own wild turkey fletch. The problem I always saw or had with woodies is from loading them into a bow quiver the compression ring from the rubber gripper ALWAYS made a weak spot on the shaft. If a arrow broke 90% of the time it was where it was compressed from the rubber bow quiver holder. With that said I never had one break upon use from shooting etc or never lost a animal because of it but I'm just telling you my experience. The experience of a decade old carbon arrow shooter now. lol
