Tip wedges

Thinking of adding tip wedges to my next bow .The form I am building on is a 60" full working recurve close to a martin recurve. To make it act more like a static without the extreme recurve. Any thoughts good or bad or how it could best be done would be appreciated

I like full working limbs best. Why you want static? Use some stable core in your limbs.

I was looking to build a different bow on the same press I have made 2 bows on the press lazy way to make something different.

I see no advantage to tip wedges . They don't protect the tip like an overlay .

I like tip wedges or superlam in a d/r longbow. I find it makes for a smoother bow.
Never tried it in a recurve.
Only one way to find out...

I am thinking of putting the wedge on the belly side of the tips as a overlay for the string grove .If I do not like it I will sand them off.

Is this another terminology issue, or is it me. A wedge would be inserted into the stack and could not be sanded off? And I am trying to figure out how an overlay on the belly side would be of any use?

A tip wedge is doing the same thing that Kenny's super lam does.  His super lam has the tip wedge built in.   All the DH recurves ive looked at had tip wedges built in exactly the same way as Kenny's super lam.  Craig Ekin puts a tip wedge in his bows.  Not certain if all of them though.

A lot of older recurves had tip wedges . I saw a add for the great northern ghost is what got me thinking about it. It should make little difference where the extra material is added.

I put a glass power lam on a glass bow on the exterior.  It worked just fine .

OK, I see what you are talking about now. A wedge string reinforcement, not an overlay.

Still not sure how you will sand that off if you don't like it

So I am beginning to wonder about about the belly string grooves in a recurve that they should not go thru the glass. Then I get this brand new Bear Rambo and the grooves are filed thru the glass into the cores. so go figure
