Back from the 2nd Annual Ohio Primitive/Traditional Expo
« on: April 13, 2008, 11:39:00 AM »
The wife and I drove up Firday and spent part of the eveining there. It was a nice group of Vendors that had almost everything you might have wanted.

We had the best intentions of staying in town for Saturdays events, but with our wheels on the road we did not return to the Expo. Ended up going from Oh, to WV to PA, Maryland, back to WV then home to southern Ohio. A little over 800 miles in all  :D  . We would still be gone if we hadn't had car trouble, but we made it home okay.

Got to see these bows for the first time and I must say I was very impressed at the quality, looks and craftmanship of these bows. Sleek and very pleasing to the eye. I would have bought one from him,,, if I was needing a bow!

Mike and his wife were there and very busy finishing their displays which were fantastic. This is where the starting bowyer should begin. Good stuff from Dryad!

I have seen this bow tree on the internet many times and finnaly got to touch it and see it in person. To me,,, worth the trip itself!

Gary Davis and I had a run in with the law, but he let us go after a few minutes. Can you believe the officer wanted to tell Gary and  myself that lemon would was better then osage for bows. We could hardly keep a straight face.
Anyway I got some good caul building tips from Gary that I can share with the gang sometime. New to me so I'm sure others will benifit from the tips from Gary. He has the best looking rough osage bows for sale than I've seen anywhere.

Shaun was a pleasure to meet and I wish him well with any ventures he may persue. He had his snake skinned osage selfbow and his first bendy handled osage to play around with. They were very nice bows and I whish I'd have asked him to shoot them.

Osagetree,
I am in your 3rd pic....all the way in the back at Mr. Davis's booth. I am the guy in the blue shirt holding the  rough osage bow. I built that bow on friday and a couple hours sat. I just now finished the sanding and I am about to finish the bow with a clear satin polyurethane finsh.

Stick, I saw you there working on it but did not want to interupt. You looked like you were into it!

Don't forget we want to see pics of your new bow!

Missed out on seeing you Joe. Roman told me you stopped by the booth and said "Hey".

Adam and I went to some hunting property of a friends not far from there and we did a little pre-season Turkey scouting. Didn't get there till 9:15 Saturday.

Had a good time seeing a bunch of TG friends and met a couple new ones. My little guy got to shoot a kid's Bear bow that Steve "Bearbowman" had on his rack. He's talked about that bow since. It was his first Trad Expo, and certainly not his last. He also liked th Dryad "Bowsage Tree"!

Osagetree,

Nice pictures, but wish you would have said "Hi."
In your first picture, in the lower right corner, is (L to R)Don Assheimer, me, and Wil McQueen.  Didn't know we were having our picture taken.

Yep, Roman from Hill Country Bows does a great job. He builds first class furnature and bows.

Bummer on the car problems, hope it all worked out for you.

Take care.
