ELB tuning question
« on: January 28, 2020, 08:19:01 PM »
I have a yew ELB that is 71 " long and draws 50# at 28". It shoots well but is loud. I would like to hunt with it, but it needs some help. What kind of brace height do you other ELB shooters find to be a god starting point in tuning both for shootability and noise control? Thanks for any suggestions you can give.

Your fistmele, the distance from the tip of your thumb to the heal of your hand (  ) is the traditional method to set the brace height. That should get you in the ball park. That's how I measure the first full brace height for all my selfbows.

It could be the brace height is too low or your arrows are over spined. Jawge

Jawg is right ,I was having trouble with mine, my specs are the same as yours , I raised the brace to around 61/4” and now shoots fine ,mines a raven beak bamboo backed yew.

O.K. I'll set the brace height up and see where it goes from there.
