Shrew Bow length?

How do you like your new Super Shrew longbow or Classic Hunter II? What bow length do you favor for your draw length? After always hunting with bows 62"-68", I finally hunted with and killed a deer with a 58" recurve . I am inspired to get another bow 52"-60".

I shot my best friends 52” CH II that he picked up at Kzoo Expo and it’s an awesome shooting bow at my 28” draw

Just personal preference, I guess. I would believe anything Ray says about his experience.
I have had a:
56” classic Hunter carbon 51@28
58” Shrew 58@28
54” Helms Deep 50@28
56” Elk Heart triple carbon 43@28
My favorite was the 51# 56” CH, with a 62/64# Sitka Spruce, 160 Stos two blade.
I generally buy stock bows and chose the elk heart for really cold weather. It could have been a few lbs heavier, but it performs well.

Gary, as you know, I’ve owned and shot a boatload of Super Shrews and even some of the original Shrews back in the mid 1990’s. The 52” Super Shrew Classic Hunter is a dandy and I’m at 28” exactly. Even though draw force curve is smooth past 28”, I’d probably jump to 54” or even 56” if 29-31 “ draw

Ray, at first I was thinking 60" SS or maybe 58" . I know they have 16" riser and the 52" 54" and 56" CH II have a 12". I notice several people going shorter in length on the Shrews for their 2nd and 3rd Shrews...interesting

My buddy Greg has a 58 inch samurai a 56 inch super shrew and a 52 inch classic Hunter II. he likes the classic Hunter the best. He draws 28” as well

Just saw this elsewhere and it is good advice
ASK HENRY
Bob from the US want to buy a Siberian Tiger Shrew and sent us this question!
54"or 56" Siberian Tiger shrew longbow?
Hi Henry,
I have a question about the difference in the two sizes. Since I actually draw 27" would there be a differencein performance and shoot ability between the two bows. Which would be faster? More consistent for accuracy? Whichwould you recommend for me? My shortest bow is 58" both in recurve and longbow. Thanks for your help! Bob
FIRST HAND INFORMATION FROM HENRY
I`m a big fan of short bows since I got my hands on a Shrew. Starting to produce the Shrew Bows changed my view about traditional bows completely. Most archers and bowhunters are thinking that short bows are not comfortable and stable. But it`s a big mistake. If you are building the bows on the right way, and the limbs are working how they should work you will be satisfied and suprised how comfortable a short bow could be. Comfortable with no finger pinch! But to come back to your question!
Clear recommendation from my side:
For your 27" draw length the 52 and 54" Shrew Classic Hunter II will be perfectly smooth and powerfull. I would never use a 56" bow for this draw length. No finger pinch at all because our semi static hybrid limbs are working differently to avoid finger pinch.
Shorter and slimmer limbs are moving faster and we prefer to have slim, short and powerfull limbs. Limbs should move like a rattlesnake in a fight and not like an elephant in the heat of the day. If your main use will be for bowhunting I`m recommend the 52" Classic Hunter II. It`s a powerfull short hunting bow and you will be happy about the extreme arrow speed.
The 52" Shrew Classic Hunter II is a really bad boy!
The 54" bow is a bit smoother and the right choice if your main use will be at 3 d tournaments. I`m using a 54" Shrew with my 30" draw length. Super smooth!
But both bows will satisfy you in the matter of their power and accuracy. The deflex handle of the Shrew bows adding and extra portion of accuracy to every single Shrew Bow.
Hope this will help to take the right decision!
