Arrow building help

I've built plenty of arrows, more so for compound than traditional.  It's easier to build for compounds and paper tune.

That being said I would like to build some heavier and well tuned arrows.  Any help would be appreciated.

My bow is 40# @ 30"  I draw 30".  I would like to shoot Easton Axis Traditional (preferred) or Gold Tip Traditionals.  (Mostly because I already have some 500 spine full length arrows of both.)  I plan to shoot 125 gr broadheads (probably Magnus because I already have some.)  And I think I would like to shoot a heavier arrow (with inserts) to quiet the bow and for penetration.

I've read the OL Adcock Bare Shaft tuning method and understand it.  Was planning to start with that.

My questions are -

What do you use to secure the inserts and  tips so you can shoot them and remove them for tuning in case you have to cut the shafts?

Should I shoot 125 tips and add 50gr inserts (total of 175) for the 500 spine shafts?

Should I go ahead and get some 600 spine and shoot just the 125 tips?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Two ways to go about this. Either glue your inserts in and then cut from the nock end to tune, or put a piece of plastic bag over the end of the shaft then push the insert in and cut off the excess. Use a target that is not too grippy, like a bag or hay bales, or you will pull them out. You may need to use 100 gr. inserts with those shirts depending on the bow.

Its scary but I have used hot melt on the inserts and when needed I carefully heated just the very tip if the point or, unscrewed the point and screwed in a long bolt and heated that while pulling on the bolt to remove the insert.  I haven't really lot but one shaft doing it that way.
