Struggling....all right hand bows....left eye dominant

I have been shooting instinctively now for 25 years.  About 10 years ago it was made aware to me that I am left eye dominant.  I can shoot very accurately up to 15 yards, after that, get out of the way.  This has greatly limited my range in hunting and I won't take a chance.  I watched the video "The Push" and has opened up some ideas for me to try.  I am going to be working on the string walking technique.  Anyone experienced the struggle of left eye dominant and not willing to give up the right hand bows?  Did string walking help you?  Please share any tips or advise.

I learned to string walk out of curiosity, but don't use it much because it is not allowed in the tournaments I shoot in.  I also learned the fixed crawl, which is an offshoot of string walking, I guess, and use that method in hunting (theoretically, although I haven't been successful in actually killing anything while using it yet).  Both methods improve my accuracy over gap shooting.

The point of both methods, the way I understand it, is to allow you to put the point of the arrow on the spot you want to hit, rather than above or below the spot you want to hit.  I don't really understand how that would help you with your cross dominance problem, other than the way they help anyone improve accuracy in general.  What did you have in mind?

By the way, I also learned to shoot both right and left handed, and really enjoy doing that.  I don't consider myself particularly gifted, and I would say that within a month I was shooting left handed without feeling awkward about it.  Within six months I was shooting left handed probably as good as I’ll ever get at it, considering that’s cross dominance for me, but good enough to be enjoyable when I decide to switch hit.

Thanks McDave.  I guess that I was thinking that when instinctive shooting with both eyes open, by left eye messes me up.  By switching to string walking, I would be able to squint my left eye forcing the sight window of my right eye right over the arrow.  Can you explain the fixed walking briefly for me?

The fixed crawl allows you to quickly position your string hand for the most common distances you expect to use hunting. I set my fixed crawl at 20 yards, and I am point on (or close to it) from 15-25 yards. You do this by experimenting with string walking until you find the position that works at your chosen distance. Then I serve the string all the way down to that spot. For me, it means my lower tied-on nock is about 5/8” long. I position my string hand under that extended lower nock, which I can quickly do by either sight or feel. Jason Westbrock has an excellent article on this in TBM a few issues ago, and Jimmy Blackmon has a good video on YouTube. What you have essentially done is to reduce an infinite number of string walking positions to one position that works for all your expected hunting shots.
