This decision was Made late last night. Though I hate it and was looking forward to it. I understand the reasoning and support it. The June Rendezvous is only 3 months away and this thing will be over by then so we will see you there. Also the newest exciting news is the BGC is being moved to the odd years so as not to conflict with the PBS. 2021 is already being planned and will be in Michigan.
Here is the message from Dennis Harper and the rest of the board.
After taking into consideration the State of Emergency declared by the President of the United States, and with guidance from the State of Florida with respect to the COVID-19 issue, the Board of Directors for Compton Traditional Bowhunters has made the decision to cancel the 2020 Big Game Classic in Gainesville.
This was a decision not taken lightly. A lot of people worked very hard for this event, and much sleep has been lost contemplating this decision. In the end, we decided that the safety of our members is the most important variable
We took into consideration that the demographic for good number of our banquet attendees are at highest risk for this particular strain of virus. In addition, some of the key members of the Compton Board of Directors will be unable to attend due to a number of complications stemming from the fallout from COVID-19. Some of our directors are first responders, others care for young people who had schools cancelled, they care for their elderly parents, and some have health risk factors.
If you have purchased tickets, we will have two options. The decision was made to turn this event around next year and hold the Big Game Classic 2021 in Michigan. You may consider those tickets good for next year's banquet, or we will offer a refund, just let us know.
Please be patient with us as we work through this process, as we are a volunteer operation. We do appreciate each and every member of our organization, and look forward to seeing you all at the Rendezvous in June.
