What are the advantages of Osage?

Im going to make a laminated longbow and wanted to know the advantages of this wood.

Not the best choice for a laminated bow other than for the riser or veneers. Osage is heavy and will be slow as a limb core for a laminated bow, especially if it's got glass belly and back IMO.

I hope you're not going to use a "good" piece of Osage to make a laminated bow.

I just wanted it for the riser. And I have all the osage I would ever need around me. Lol

For the riser is is sweet. I have a Morrison Cheyenne with Osage in the riser and am very pleased with it.

I have two ACS CX risers made from Osage; both turned out very nice. I too had a Cheyenne with Osage, it is an excellent riser wood choice.

Oh yeah, the advantages: very dense and heavy, has tremendous character-the more you use it the darker and grainier it gets. It is made in the USA!
