New Longbow, Bowquiver causes string slap
« on: April 02, 2020, 09:48:54 AM »
I am the proud owner of a new Toelke Whip, but I've run into a bit of a problem. I have the bow shooting a good bareshaft at 20 yards, with a braceheight of 8". When I shoot with a bowquiver the string is constantly stinging my forearm. The slap was worse when my braceheight was lower, but raising it half an inch wasn't enough to make it go away.

If I take the quiver off all string slap goes away. I really want to make the bow quiver work, and I'm wondering if anyone else has dealt with this issue.

Do you shoot with a very loose grip?  If so, the bow is turning in your hand at release due to the weight of the quiver  and the string is slapping your arm.  A slightly firmer grip would solve that problem.

Happens to me too. If I mount a quiver on my bow, the string will start hitting my arm. Not all bows, but most!!!!! I hunt with the quiver off the bow. When I get to a stand or blind, I take the quiver off. The quiver is just a convenient way for me to transport the arrows so it works for me. The few times I hunt where I am stalking, I just wear an armguard.
