Super glue dilemma

I've noticed over the last few months that tubes(bottles) of super glue(liquid) looks more like gel, thickened in the unopened tube. This is Lock-Tite and Gorilla super glue. Before I started looking at each bottle in the store to be sure, some of what I had at home was solid in the unopened bottle.
 I guess my point is...if you do go out and if you do buy super glue check each bottle carefully to be sure it is actually liquid(watery).

I’ve been having the same problem. Same glue too. I thought it might be because it has been sitting, but it used to last a long time before.

I keep mine in the refrigerator.
Lasts way longer. I have one now that is almost two years been opened and still good.
Another hint; get the cheap original thin as water stuff.
This is the one that has been open for two years.

I can't find liquid super glue, Loctite or Gorilla in our local stores that isn't already gelled or solid, still in the original pkg. I've been using these and other brands for years and only in the last year or so have I noticed these problems.
I checked in WalMart last week and every bottle of both Gorrila and Loctite super glues were solid in the bottle. Wouldn't flow at all.
 I was basically just curious if others were having the same trouble.

I really like the zap a gap glue. I usually find it in the craft stores.

Back in the days before internet sales, there was a thing called a distribution network. It involved manufactures, distributors and sales people. In those days the sales folks would call on accounts and check inventory. If products on the shelf was found to be out dated, the sales rep would pull the old stuff and replace it with fresh product. Retailers are barely hanging on these days and computers keep track of inventory. Good luck finding a sales rep outside the pharmaceutical industry.

I’ve gotten away from bottles of super glue for the most part. Anymore, I just go to the dollar store and buy the six packs of tiny foil tubes. Never have to worry about the bottle drying out.

I know there are other options out there. My question was whether other folks were finding that in store supplies of super glue were out of date on the shelves or if not that ,finding only gelled or solid "liquid" super glue.
 Next time I do go out for groceries I'll look into the foil tubes.

If I need any adhesives, epoxy's or finishes of any kind, I order direct from the manufacturer. That way you know you get maximum shelf life. Save the free shipping "site" option for items with no expiration date. Where I live, everything has been sitting around collecting dust. Yesterday I was down at a local auto parts store looking for some special adhesive backed velcro, which they had, but the packaging was from 2014!!!

I have been getting mine at Hobby Lobby.  They have what they call "Extreme Power".  Thin, medium and thick.

I  just buy the wal-mart cheep stuff, keep it standing upright , like in the store.
seems like after it's opened and you lay it down it drys  up faster..

I like the little one use tubes, but my problem is that I like to have a bottle of thin glue handy when I’m working on a carving. It’s indispensable for repairing small oopsies. 🤭
I also use it to harden thin bits on a carving, and fill tiny gaps when I’m sanding a bow.
A bottle of super glue used to last a long time.

I get mine at woodcraft. You don’t even need to screw the cap on all the way and it never hardens. Tightbond CA I have gel, thin, and one other. I’ve had them for a few years and still good.  $12.50 but this is seriously like year 3 easy & still flows

We cell the CA glue in both thick and thin. We are frequently replenishing our inventory straight from the manufacturer as well so it's always fresh.

I use quite a bit in the bow shop and never put it in the fridge, however that's where we keep it in the office.

A 2 oz bottle will last me a couple months.. sometimes. I rarely ever put the cap back on mine. In quantity, mass amounts of CA won't dry so the cap can be left off. Never seems to thicken for me either.

I guess the stuff off the shelf is old and out of date. This only seems to have happened over the last year or so for me. I never used to store it differently and never had it gel or solidify even after months sitting out, cap on or off.
