Covid 19 lockdown pig #5
« on: May 11, 2020, 09:57:41 AM »

Was out walking on the proper when I got a text that there were hogs at the feeder around a half mile away.  I literally ran 90 percent of the way there, kicked off my boots and approached quickly on a sandy trail as close as I could get with the fickle wind, using blackberries for cover.  Hog went around 60 yards even though it was heart shot. That TallTines Stickflinger has done well.

That's a good looking pig.
Running that far they'd have to load me up and haul me out.

Thanks guys.

GCook, I didn't say how fast ran, lol.  The knees aren't what they used to be.   When I hit the field before the creek I slowed to a brisk walk so that I could catch my breath before I got to the hog

It seems the coronavirus has not been good for the pigs in your area. Good shooting!

Got them pretty well sorted out now.  Only 1 boar and a few piglets roaming around unless a new sounder finds my place.

Our place is covered up with pigs.  I've killed a bunch this year and it makes no difference.   Just wish they'd be more cooperative going by bow stands.

GCook, I don't even try with stand anymore. Get solar feeder lights and a cellular trail cam.  Then stalk them by pre established routes for the given wind, after they have decided that the coast is clear to feed.  These pigs are too wary for anything else by a feeder. Sometimes I get lucky stalking them when they are feeding in the drainages.
