Make shift Blinds

How about some info on arranging blinds(natural on hand) on the spot of good sign.   What tips and tricks?  I've had great success like this for years, and there is always something else to learn.

I hunt Government land when I get drawn and we can’t leave anything in the woods, so
Natural blinds are less disturbing to the area.  Ghillie suit would be a big plus.

im not into carrying a bunch of junk around with me when im hunting, but most always carry a folding saw and pruners. i find a chunk of dead tree and drag it up against a tree to sit on then prune some small vegetation for cover and some larger sticks as needed for structure.
 i couldnt bring myself to sit in a tent in the middle of the woods and call it hunting!
        let alone drag one around with me. 
 hell i never know just how far im gonna walk if im out just cruising for action.

I'll second the suggestion about a gillie suit. I tried one last year, it worked great. They make some that very reasonably priced. You wear your blind on your back still hunting or put it on when you arrive at your destination. The suits made of synthetic strips pack up small.

I used to do a little of that where I hunt south of San Antonio. I found I was drawing a lot of rats,and mice,and they were drawing snakes. I got lucky and never really got sideways with a rattler,but I get in the trees now

It doesn't take a massive fort, just enough cover that that your silhouette doesn't stand out. Also, brush behind you is important. Make sure you have a comfortable seat so that you can sit still for long periods of time. I scrape away the leaves and branches around my seat so my feet don't create noise. The ghillie is a good idea also. Be sure you are facing into the wind. Air currents are always crucial, but especially so at ground level.

Thanks guys.  Not talking about ghilies, talking about your tips and tricks on 'on the site' hid outs and some other tips.

I'll try and share a few later as I was just wondering if anyone else has a lot of experience with this.  I think this info could help a lot of hunters.

I always try to dig up some dirt while clearing leaves ans sticks for natural earth scents in the air and also look for local weeds, flowers to crush up as well for some cover scents.

Shadows.  Look to be in a shadow wherever you decide to put together a makeshift blind.

I've found it works pretty good for pigs.  In the shade, down wind of a natural crossing on a ditch or funnel.  But with deer they seem to pick you off too easily within 20 yards.  Seems they can see you blink an eye much less draw a bow.  I've done them up in thick cedars and had more luck but most places I've hunted the last couple of decades that is less of an option.

I like to carry rubber coated wire to attach the materials together. Then just take it with you when you’re leaving. Hawk and summit make them for sure, as probably many other companies. I’ve liked it much better than zip ties.
